Outre Launches New Campaign #OutreWoman for HERstory Month
As you already know, I’ve become obsessed with the wiggy life, especially when those wigs come from Outre. They’re affordable, stylish, and come in all sorts of curls that match my naturalista soul — what’s not to love? So I was super excited to learn the brand was celebrating women’s history month (or, as Outre calls it, “HERstory month”) with an empowering campaign called #OutreWoman.
The campaign celebrates “various women who are BOLD, BEAUTIFUL, and pursuing their dreams.” It kicks off this month but is said to continue beyond (because we celebrate women all day, err day ‘round here!) The first “Outre Woman” featured in this campaign is young, talented, and body-positive photographer Rochelle Brockington. The 21-year-old uses her camera to expand the definition of beauty. Outre is one of the most iconic and classic black girl essentials. In all of the years I’ve bought packs of kanekalon and bundles from different hair extension brands, I don’t recall any really making social statements. We usually see haircare brands do the digital media marketing and cool campaigns. Outre is really standing out with its refreshing and inspiring movement.
Side note: I’m really digging the evolution of black hair brands. Finally, they are speaking to us — the consumers! I love a good celebrity endorsement every now and then, but I adore seeing everyday women being celebrated and promoted, especially when those women are beautifully unconventional and unique. Campaigns like this one makes the “empowering woman” conversation, way more interesting.
