I’m in Los Angeles!

Bye bye NYC, I’m a Cali girl now! Well, for a month at least.

After toying with the idea for some time, I finally decided to head west. I am currently staying in LaLa Land, a beautiful sunny place also known as Los Angeles. I’m a New Yorker for life, but I think I’ve done as much as I can at home — it’s time to explore. Through my writing, I’ve been fortunate to connect with so many PoC, women and creatives all over the world. I want to continue my passion through different ways; I’m particularly interested in video production. The film and video crowd seem to dwell more on the West Coast, so I’m hoping to expand my work and experiment new ways to connect with you all.

I’ve only been here for a few days, but my friend who’s hosting me has already shown me some of the best hotspots in LA. So far: my fave restaurants are Aroma Coffee and EAT, I may become addicted to spin class at The Sweat Shoppe, I’ve already run into about 5 Viners (they all seem to love hanging at The Grove). I do miss the convenience of NYC. This city is so ridiculously wide and you really need a car to get anywhere within a reasonable time frame. Let’s not even talk about the traffic. Where’s my express train?! Also, LA really loves their cafeteria style dining. I actually waited on a long line (that extended OUTSIDE the building) to order breakfast. The New Yorker in me wanted to complain to a fellow linemate and then leave in huff, but the people here in California are just so damn nice and easygoing. It rubs off on you. I now find myself pleasantly content waiting in long lines enjoying a casual conversation with a stranger. So weird!
