My Heart Hurts and I’m Tired of Writing

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written about racial issues and police brutality. I took a little break from the subject, using only my social media platforms to sound off on what’s happening in the world. It’s exhausting reading and writing about the never-ending murders of black people, it’s damaging to see footage of black people getting murdered be shared alongside cat videos, this reality is troubling.

I’m afraid I don’t have eloquent words or clever sentences to express my disgust with this country. I feel a resistance as I write this. I feel empty. What will these words about my feelings do? My tears are just added to the great big sea of black tears.

I honestly can’t find the words to express what is in my heart right now. I don’t feel like rambling on. At this point, all I can do it talk about it. I don’t feel like writing about it. I don’t feel like dealing with racist trolls. I don’t feel like comforting fragile white people feelings. I don’t feel like explaining why it’s not ok to kill someone instead of just arresting them. I’m tired of comparing Dylan Roof to an unarmed black man. I’m angry. I’m annoyed. I feel helpless. I feel hopeless.
